Dear Friends and Webheads:

This is a WEBHEADS page but since this WIKI has just got started, its first task is to double as a personal and Webheads interactive MerryHappy2005 Seasons Greetings for Vance and his family during the end of 2005 and the beginning of the New Year 2006.

I normally create some kind of online Christmas card. Last year I went for a blog (at http://webheads2004.buzznet.com/ ) and this year I've graduated to a wiki. In case you don't know what a wiki is, it's like a blog, but it's one that anyone with a password can write on, and we would like to invite you to leave your seasonal end of or new year greeting there, with URLs we and others can visit, and links to pics if you are so inclined.

Here's its location:

http://webheads.pbwiki.com/MerryHappy2005

The password may have already been emailed you; if not get it from Vance.

In case you want to leave more than a note, there are instructions here:

http://yummy.pbwiki.com/WikiStyle

If you are reading this then you're on the wrong page for editing. So do this:

(1) Pull down ALL PAGES and select MerryHappy2005 (or simply click on the link).

(2) Then use EDIT THIS PAGE to add your note at the bottom of what you find there.

(If you have left a note here by mistake it has probably been moved to the correct location).

(3) Last step, click on UPDATE and you're done.

You can go in and change things you've written but please don't over-write anything others have written. Wikis are designed to be restored to a previous state in case of accident or vandalism, but those who have the password will most likely leave the work of others undisturbed.

Our news, as always, is at http://www.vancestevens.com

This is mirrored at: http://www.prof2000.pt/users/vstevens/index.html

for the benefit of those in China, Vietnam, and Tunisia (where Geocities is unavailable)

You can browse in there for news about our summer trip to Guatemala or peruse our dive logs. Speaking of diving, Vance went diving off Mindoro in the Philippines earlier this year, and Bobbi, Glenn, and Dusty all completed their PADI Rescue Diver courses in 2005. Vance's most valued accomplishment this year was to organize and pull off a totally online conference at http://wiaoc.org.

Other than that, three of us are hanging in there in Abu Dhabi, and Dusty has another year after this before graduation from the U of California at Irvine.

Wishing you happiness this holiday season with hopes of regime change and peace at last perhaps this coming year??

Vance, Bobbi, Glenn, and Dusty Stevens

This card was created on Sunday, Christmas day here in Abu Dhabi. This year we are again fortunate, as we were last year, to have our boys with us. Glenn has been living with us for the past year and Dusty came out on a month-long break from college, so we are all together in our 11th floor flat in Abu Dhabi. These days the view is not only of the ocean but of the new parklands they are building on what used to the corniche outside our window. The Corniche (for cars and people) has been rebuilt on reclaimed land dredged from the natural channel separating us from the island sandbars and no-longer-new shopping mall on the breakwater, so the view keeps changing, and the construction is slowly but surely giving way to green parks just beneath our building to distract us from the 6 lanes of traffic further away between the greenery and the sea-view.
